COMMITMENT

Mr. Powell’s exhibitions from the 80’s through the present  are a representation of his relentless commitment to honor, respect and pay homage to the forgotten brave African American men who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.  

"The African American Soldier in the U.S. Army, 1866-1902"  was exhibited at: the Presidio Museum, The Presidio of San Francisco, April 22-June 26,1994; Los Angeles WATTS SUMMER GAMES, July 1994; the Los Angeles Family Reunion, at Exposition Park, August 1994; the Black Expo U.S.A. - Long Beach, September 10 & 11, 1994; Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, October 7-9, 1994; The African American Historical &Cultural Museum of the San Joaquin Valley, October 10-29, 1994; The Ordway Building in Oakland, California October 31 to November 12, 1994; Riverside, California November 19 & 20, 1994; the Inland Empire Minorities Business Expo, Riverside Convention Center; The 10th Annual Holiday Expo, Oakland Convention Center December 2nd,3rd and 4th, 1994.

The National tour of, “The Buffalo Soldier - the African American Soldier in the U.S. Army 1866-1912”, began in 1996 and is still shown in major cities throughout the United States.  The exhibit "Portraits In Black," The African American Soldier 1866-1991, is a production of Mr. Anthony Powell's “Portraits In Black” Series.
